RTG is Solving London's Biggest ITAD Challenge One Collection at a Time

In central London, retiring IT assets isn’t as simple as scheduling a pickup. Narrow streets, restricted access, and shared loading bays make it difficult to collect equipment without disrupting day-to-day operations. Rather than treating those obstacles as part of the job, Reuse Technology Group (RTG) built its business around solving them.

The Problem

For businesses collecting and processing retired laptops and mobiles  from central London, the logistics of secure collection often cost more than the recoverable value of the assets. Alongside fuel costs, emissions, and congestion charges, client sites sit on narrow streets with tight parking and restricted access—conditions that rule out the large trucks most ITAD providers rely on.

A lorry that can only visit once a week forces clients to stockpile retired equipment onsite, taking up space in buildings where loading bays serve hundreds of tenants and can’t be tied up for a full day.

Access, not processing capacity, is the binding constraint.

The Solution

RTG built its business around the challenge instead of working around it. Operating from Greater London, the company uses a fleet of smaller vans that can make multiple trips into the city each day, collecting retired IT assets in batches of roughly 100 devices rather than waiting for larger volumes to accumulate. That keeps client floor space clear during IT refreshes while avoiding the parking and loading bay constraints larger vehicles create.

Once assets arrive at RTG’s facility, Blancco certified data erasure becomes a core part of the process. Every device undergoes a full inventory assessment followed by automated data sanitisation, providing customers with a trusted, auditable record that their data has been permanently erased. As a Blancco Silver Partner, RTG chose Blancco to give enterprise customers confidence in both the security and compliance of its ITAD services.

RTG then brings every step together through its proprietary Reuse Connect platform. Customers can schedule collections, select vehicle types, and track assets from pickup through processing. Photo-verified chain of custody records, inventory reports, and Blancco erasure certificates are uploaded to each job in real time, giving customers complete visibility throughout the process.

The platform also provides estimated buyback values, optional charitable donations, and sustainability reporting, including avoided CO₂ emissions and circularity metrics through RTG’s Blancco-supported integration with Rejoose. By combining London-focused logistics, Blancco-certified data erasure, and real-time customer visibility, RTG created an ITAD model designed for organisations operating in one of the world’s most complex urban environments.

The Results

In addition to rigorous onboarding to a range of Blancco solutions, RTG worked with Blancco to provide advanced technical training across its team and adopted the Cambrionix ThunderSync5-C16 hub for Apple devices. The result was a dramatic increase in throughput, reducing wipe-and-rebuild time from approximately 30 minutes per device to processing 16 devices in about 20 minutes. That improvement gave RTG the capacity to take on significantly more Apple volume while maintaining the quality and consistency customers expect.

The operational gains RTG has achieved support a business built around reuse. RTG maintains a 99% reuse rate, with every device kept in service avoiding an average of roughly 350 kg of CO₂ emissions. Combined with its London-focused logistics model, that has helped the company scale rapidly while delivering measurable environmental benefits.

Since implementing its growth strategy, RTG has doubled annual turnover from approximately £3 million to £6 million and is targeting a £10 million run rate by April 2027. The company believes there is still significant room for growth as it expands partnerships with enterprise customers, resellers, and distributors.

“Operating in London means every collection has to be efficient. As we’ve grown, Blancco has helped us increase throughput without compromising the trust our customers place in us.”
