Blancco Launches a White-Labeled Smartphone Valuation App for GEO Mobile

The Blancco Mobile Solutions app will provide GEO Mobile with a customized appraisal platform for used mobiles. 

Blancco Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of Blancco Technology Group (hereinafter “Blancco”), has launched a white-labeled Blancco Mobile Solutions app for GEO Mobile, Inc., a used mobile specialty retailer operated by GEO Corporation (Head Office: Naka-ku, Nagoya; President: Yasufumi Yoshikawa).

The app’s UI is customized to match GEO Mobile branding, and it will be available on the App Store and Google Play Store as the “GEO Mobile” purchase assessment app. This will create a seamless brand experience at all customer touch points of GEO Mobile’s purchase of used mobiles, from self-service diagnosis and assessment to actual purchase. 

In a simple, self-service manner, mobile owners can download the GEO Mobile app and use it remotely to assess the condition and resale price of used handsets. 

By knowing the price in advance, customers can reduce the gap between their expectations and the price at the time of purchase, preventing a decline in customer satisfaction. Furthermore, by accurately understanding smartphone information (model, IMEI, etc.) and condition in advance through the app, GEO Mobile will minimize human error during the assessment process and reduce the variability of returns. 

In recent years, the weak yen has caused the selling price of smartphones to skyrocket dramatically, creating competition for price-controlled reused products and driving significant market growth. Against this backdrop, GEO Mobile aims to further expand the number of units purchased through its services. Through this purchase assessment app, Blancco will help GEO Mobile strengthen its brand and increase customer satisfaction in the second-hand purchase market. 

Additionally, amidst the increasing number of consumer problems caused by discrepancies between advertised purchase prices quoted by reuse businesses and actual purchase prices, purchasing has become subject to regulation. Under the revised Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations, regulatory compliance is mandatory in purchase promotion measures. Having highly accurate pre-assessment through the app will play an important role in compliant purchase promotions. 

Mr. Ryo Fujimaki, Manager of the Mobile Product Department of GEO Corporation, explains the aim of offering the app under the GEO Mobile brand.  “We believe that there is still a latent resistance among customers to selling their handsets in stores, including the perception of it. One of the reasons for this is that they don’t know how much the price will be, and it is a hassle to go to the store.”

Mr. Fujimaki continues, “Therefore, we believe that if the purchase price can be confirmed at home through the app, it will save the time and effort of going to the store for an appraisal and will motivate customers who have never sold before. We also hope to raise awareness of GEO Mobile through the provision of the app. The GEO brand is already well known in the rental and game software trade. Similarly, we want GEO Mobile to be recognized by customers as a reuse mobile brand, and we want customers to be more familiar with the name GEO Mobile.”
